Proactive communication about goals and expectations in research mentoring relationships is essential to a productive and mutually beneficial experience. Our conversation will include considering a case study and how you might align expectations to promote successful relationships with your mentor and/or current and future mentees.

In  this workshop, you will:

  • Recognize the importance of taking a proactive approach to aligning mentor-mentee expectations
  • Describe several areas where misalignment can occur, and proactive alignment is valuable
  • Explore a process you might use for aligning expectations in your mentoring relationships

All UW-Madison graduate students are welcome, and participants will have the opportunity to explore this topic from both the perspective of a research mentee as well as a current or future mentor.
