Strategic Human Resource Management Center’s Post

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is a highly-regarded and complex institution. This week, Wisconsin MBA Strategic Human Resource Management Center Class of 2025 students learned a bit more about the place they will call home for, at least, the next two years. SHR MBA students attended a resource fair, soaked in helpful tips from graduate students outside of the business school, heard from University leaders, got a 'peppy' and (maybe) coincidental sneak peek of our talented University of Wisconsin Marching Band on a gorgeous Madison summer day, and among a sea of students, were in the right place at the right time to introduce themselves to Provost Isabell, who along with William J. Karpus, Lori Reesor, and LaVar J. Charleston, welcomed graduate students with thoughtful and authentic (and a few humorous) remarks. Our strategic human resources-related conversations explored the university's mission; the Wisconsin Idea; diversity, equity, and inclusion; organizational culture; and leaderships roles and responsibilities. SHR students learned more about the vast University resources - in addition to the already amazing ones offered at the Wisconsin School of Business - to support their success, and we spent time discussing both organizational effectiveness and the advantages, disadvantages, opportunities, and challenges that come with leading in a matrixed organizational structure. Thank you University of Wisconsin-Madison Graduate School for hosting an informative welcome day. On, Wisconsin! #welcome #wsbshr #culture #DEIB #organizationalculture #learning #MBA #uwmadison #graduateschoolsandstudents
