The challenge with social media lies in the clash between authenticity and inauthenticity. In my lectures to parents, students, and organizations like universities and corporations, I emphasize the importance of consistency between one’s private and public personas on social media. The concept of privacy as we once understood it no longer exists. Instead of the traditional seven degrees of separation, we’re now down to maybe three or four. The way we connect has fundamentally changed; isolation is encouraged, and superficial interactions are often presented as the norm for this generation. And all of this points to a significant issue—a truly problematic one.

This piece by the brilliant Amy Yeboah Quarkume, Ph.D. captures the nuanced role that data (or lack thereof) plays in #democracy, from being afforded access to public services to being represented in the #data that informs decisions. Her piece reminds me of my own path from public service into data for social impact work -- our local #government institutions work so hard to provide quality, fair, equitable services, but technology and data can be both an enabling and limiting factor in getting there. To truly "do" government well, we also need to do data and technology well, in the public's interest.
Technology and democracy are intrinsically intertwined. Public interest technologists are upholding ethical standards and the will of the people in the digital age. Learn about curricula, research, and career pathways for young technologists with a passion for democracy in the November issue of the Public Interest Technology University Network newsletter: 🗞️ https://bit.ly/49R83Yi

¡for your satisfaction meticulously examine information and behavior to know as to Who Eventually Benefits And How!
nobody is perfect due to shortcomings, and imperfections, and flaws. -> trust and love take time. -> love changes everything. -> lust changes everything, which is why there are ongoing relationships that are unethical, and illegal, and immoral, and taboo, and forbidden. -> sometimes we as an individual MUST express our frustrations, however, if they are too thruthful [too blunt], then the written and or the verbal expressions will become a "double edge sword" that in addition to being beneficial can result with destructive consequences that range from immediate to long lasting [eternal]; NOTE: you choose your expressions ............................... #behavior #integrity #honor #competence #knowledge #comportment wisdom #theartofwar #morality #ethos #ethics #codeofethics #codeofconduct #trust #confidence #theartofthedeal #theartofnodeal ............................... 10:00 am Pacific DayLight Savings Time on Saturday, 8 October 2022 Common Era formerly Ano Domini ...... 13770 Sayre Street, Sylmar California 91342 |> addendum: 1999 is the year that i began to share information on the internet a question: ¿am i a liability? - another question: ¿am i worth your time? ¡The Max Waller around 1999 while still married to Mrs. Max Rafael Waller (née Cisneros) known as Mrs. Angela Margaret Waller (née Cisneros) began posting information at the former College Club dot com, and MySpace dot com now known as Myspace dot com that is an awful social network, and at the non existent Yahoo GeoCities [Eric G. There is much confusion over the terms cross disciplinary, multidisciplinary, and transdisciplinary. The following is a commissioned short paper to offer a constructive approach to these very different constructs, and how they can be applied in security contexts. As I am writing a far longer and more rigorous paper on the latter issue I’d value any responses to this one Why Do We Need “Transdisciplinarity”? MR Wigan - IEEE Technology and Society Magazine, 2023 The terms cross disciplinary, multidisciplinary, and transdisciplinary (TD) are increasingly used, but rarely unpacked for their actual application. This article examines these different perspectives and proposes a usable definition and applies … This was sent to me by google today and so omits the direct URL. It should be on IEEE Xplore by now if if any interest

Today, the D-RisQ Technical Director, Professor Colin O'Halloran gave a guest lecture to 2nd year undergraduate course on Computability, Complexity and Logic at the University of York. Colin is a visiting Professor to the Computer Science department and challenged the students with some advanced thinking on the need for verification. The world these undergraduates will eventually enter will require more complex systems and software, so being able to logically describe the problem in such a manner that enables the problem to be solved - read: 'verified' - is going to be a key skill. Thanks to #Universityofyork, Computer Science Department for hosting this lecture. #formalverification

📢 New Issue Alert! Excited to share the latest edition of the Journal of Public Interest Communications (JPIC). Dive into the latest research and insights on how to use communication for social good. 🔗 Read the new issue here: https://lnkd.in/gEHyTg9z This weekend, as I scrolled through the pages of this new issue, I was taken on a journey down memory lane. I was reminded of the countless voices that once echoed, telling me I wasn't cut out for writing. "Too many thoughts,” they'd say, "You can't focus on a single topic." It felt like my brain was a whirlwind that couldn’t be tamed, and maybe they were right. But here's the thing - that whirlwind was later identified as undiagnosed ADHD. This revelation was not just an answer but a beginning. I decided to embrace the whirlwind. I worked relentlessly to turn it into a force for good. The thoughts, once scattered, began to find their rhythm. With every word I penned, I grew more resolute in my desire to make a difference. Fast forward to today, and I stand before you as the Editor of the Journal of Public Interest Communications. Every day, I get to be a part of something that is bigger than myself. My whirlwind, now harnessed, is here to aid others in creating waves of social change through the power of words. To anyone grappling with self-doubt or wrestling with the gusts of their own whirlwinds - know that there is strength within you. Harness it, embrace it, and let it propel you to places you never thought possible. Let’s continue to use communication to light the torch of change. 🕊️✨ #ADHD #Communications #SocialChange #Empowerment #JPIC
