The Department of Theatre and Drama is excited to collaborate with Children’s Theater of Madison next fall on the musical Annie. Performances October 24 - November 1, 2026 in the Capitol Theater at Overture Center for the Arts.

Join us Friday, March 20 at noon in the Hemsley Theatre to hear more about this exciting collaboration.
Positions available for actors and production crew/technicians - majors and non-majors, all UW students welcome to audition/interview!

Rehearsals begin September 15, 2026 at Madison Youth Arts Center (1055 E Mifflin St.)

Tech begins September-October at the Capitol Theater.

Acting Option Auditions March 11

Hello Actors! If you are interested in pursuing the Theatre and Drama ACTING OPTION, now is the time to sign-up for an audition time.

When: Wednesday, March 11, 2026, 4:30-6:00 pm. Sign up for a 10-minute slot. *NOTE: Slots from 4:30-5 pm will be prioritized for cullud wattah actors attending the production postmortem

Where: 1132 Vilas (Please wait in the hall until called)

What: Prepare 2 contrasting monologues (4 minutes total max)

Music Rehearsals: March 25th through March 27th (6pm - 9pm)
Blocking Rehearsals: April 6th through April 17th
Tech week: April 20th through April 24th
Performances: April 25th (7pm), April 26th (7pm) in the Gilbert V. Hemsley Theatre

Note: Directors should be available for auditions and callbacks, the blocking rehearsal period, and tech week.

Directors will be in charge of scheduling their own rehearsals with their group during the blocking rehearsal period.

WUD Games Presents: Hollywood Murder Mystery
Join WUD Games for an evening of mystery and investigation on either the 18th or 19th of April! The event will run 6pm-10pm, during which time you will take on the role of a member of a Hollywood film studio, socialize with your fellow filmmakers, and then solve the curious case of someone's untimely demise. A great chance for practicing improv skills! Dress-up is encouraged, and dinner will be provided. Use the QR code above or head to the  RSVP form to join!

Casting Call For Independent Feature Film

Morning Moon – Searching for her father, Selena finds a stranger instead—unearthing secrets, guilt, and unexpected bonds.

Written and directed by award-winning filmmaker Aaron Greer (Service to Man and Gettin' Grown), Morning Moon is scheduled to film in Madison, July 2026. This independent feature centers around a recently orphaned 22-year-old who receives a mysterious lead on the father she never knew existed. Compelled to unravel the truth—if only to understand her mother’s lifelong deception—she sets off on a search that takes her into an uncomfortable past and unfamiliar future. Part coming-of-age story, part dramedy, part mystery, Morning Moon explores issues around family, addiction, identity and love.

Production Information

Written and directed by Aaron Greer (Gettin’ Grown Productions and the University of Wisconsin Madison).
  • Principal photography scheduled to start on July 1st, 2026. All filming to take place in and around Madison, Wisconsin.
  • Over two-dozen speaking roles, ranging from a single day of shooting to 22 days for the lead (Selena).
  • Compensation: $250/day (plus travel and lodging considered for the roles of Selena, Avi and Nya).
  • Open to union and non-union talent. Only local talent considered for supporting and day-player roles.

Actors who fit will be invited to submit a self-taped audition for further consideration.
