Dedicated, Expert Advising
We are fully invested in the success of our students. That's why we at the School of Pharmacy offer dedicated advising services for any UW-Madison student interested in the PharmD program as well as our Pharmacology and Toxicology (PharmTox) undergraduate major. Additional resources for pre-pharmacy students include pharmacy focused Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) sessions and access to pharmacy first-year interest groups (FIGs). From your first day on campus as an undergraduate, you can come to us for expert advice on everything from coursework and prerequisites, to navigating the application process, to post-graduate career options.

The Fast Track Option
You could start your future in pharmacy 1-2 years earlier than you may have thought! Because the UW-Madison School of Pharmacy does not require a bachelor's degree for admission, students have the option of applying for admission if all prerequisite coursework is completed at an accredited institution. This typically takes 2-3 years, meaning you could bypass the time and save the expense of 1-2 years of undergraduate study. Roughly half of our PharmD students choose the fast track option, while the rest choose to complete their undergraduate degree. We always encourage students to apply when they feel they are in the best position to excel.

Go Wisconsin for Undergrad
While there is no preference for UW-Madison students in PharmD admissions, there is a special benefit. Exclusively for UW-Madison students who fast track, you could earn both a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in as little as six years. You would complete your prerequisites as a Letters & Science or CALS student in any major you want and then apply to the PharmD program. Once admitted to the PharmD program, you would receive your bachelor's degree after you complete your second year of pharmacy school and earn your Doctor of Pharmacy degree when you complete the program after four years.
