The University of Wisconsin–Madison occupies ancestral Ho-Chunk land, a place their nation has called Teejop (day-JOPE)
since time immemorial. In an 1832 treaty, the Ho-Chunk were forced to cede this territory. Decades of ethnic cleansing followed when both the federal and state government repeatedly, but unsuccessfully, sought to forcibly remove the Ho-Chunk from Wisconsin. This history of colonization informs our shared future of collaboration and innovation. Today, UW–Madison respects the inherent sovereignty of the Ho-Chunk Nation, along with the eleven other First Nations of Wisconsin.

June is LGBTQI
A+ Pride Month
June as Pride Month commemorates the tenacious and political defiance of our LGBTQIA+ community and allies during the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. Pride Month symbolizes both a historical liberation for the community and a reminder of the ongoing struggle for equality of diverse identities.
Let's not only celebrate the immense progress made and acknowledge the challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ community this month — but also promote intersectionality in our strive toward a world where love knows no boundaries and acceptance knows no limits.
Readings + Resources
Mobin celebrates June by honoring intersectional achievements and recognizing the diverse trailblazers of the LGBTQIA+ community, both historic and contemporary.
Learn how to be an active ally and make a positive impact in fostering inclusivity. This video gives helpful strategies about how to support those with marginalized and diverse identities.
"In her most revealing and powerful memoir yet, activist, speaker, and bestselling author, Glennon Doyle explores the joy and peace we discover when we stop striving to meet others’ expectations and start trusting the voice deep within us." -Penguin Random House
"Informative, heartbreaking, and profoundly empowering, Tomorrow Will Be Different is Sarah McBride’s story of love and loss and a powerful entry point into the LGBTQ community’s battle for equal rights and what it means to be openly transgender." -Penguin Random House
